UTLA PHONE BANKING------FREE FOOD

Help elect board members who represent your interests. Can you volunteer for just one phone bank shift?

These are going to be very close races. Our future health benefits and salary might depend on the outcome. A victory against well heeled opponents supported by charter school operators, outside business interests, and politicians will require UTLA members to turn out strong in the last week of the campaign.

Please supportMarguerite LaMotteSchool Board District 1

Jon LauritzenSchool Board District 3

For more information on why you should volunteer, read "It’s time to deliver for LaMotte and Lauritzen" by Joshua Pechthalt, AFT Vice President.
Both of these incumbents are reliable votes for better pay and health benefits for teachers. Plus, phone banking is just plain fun! Well... at least you get free Coke and pizza!

Strike Authorization News

The strike authorization vote has been called off

(for now, as it would be in bad faith if we had a strike vote at the same time that we were considering whether or not to accept a tentative agreement.)

Within the next week and a half/two weeks, we will be voting on the tentative contract agreement. We will get the full text of the proposal, discuss it, and decide whether or not it is sufficient.

As there is an incomplete strike authorization vote, a rejection of the contract would only send the negotiating team back to the bargaining table - not send the membership to a strike.
